We offer real and permanent good to everyday people

The mission of BHM Shipping & Logistics is to become Africa's top tier liner shipping company. The company will charter quality containership tonnage, with a business model that generates sustainable cash flows. Our time charters provide a cost effective alternative to direct vessel ownership for our company, allowing it to free up capital and management resources for other strategic needs. Freight rates will be on a per-ton basis over a certain route and in Worldscale points in case of oil tankers. Alternatively will be expressed in terms of a total sum - normally in U.S. dollars - per day for the agreed duration of the charter.  BHM will pay for all fuel the vessel consumes, port charges, commissions, and a daily hire to the owner of the vessel.

Ship Management

Our strategy is to outsource the day-to-day technical management of the chartered vessels to well-established ship managers with considerable expertise. Our outsourcing strategy will allow us to  strengthen competitive benchmarking, cost control, and risk management. The ship managers, will be closely supervised by us; they will be responsible for crewing, ship maintenance and repair, vessel provisioning, inspections and ensuring compliance with flag, class and other statutory and regulatory requirements necessary to support our business. We will be responsible for arranging hull and machinery insurance and protection and indemnity insurance for the vessels in our fleet. Together with the ship manager, we will arrange vessel dry dockings, which are typically required every five years.

The ship management for the chartered vessels will be undertaken by CMA Ships. CMA Ships has a proven track record of providing quality and efficient operational services for CMA CGM's owned fleet. Retaining CMA Ships as our ship manager will enable us to ensure continuity of service and operational efficiency.

Crude Oil Tankers

U.S. crude production reduced crude movements from West Africa to the U.S.
As a result, traffic from West Africa to Asia has increased dramatically. The world tanker fleet increased by 10.5 million deadweight tonnes (mdwt), or approximately 2.1 percent, through the first nine months of 2013.  BHM has direct access to major oil companies, independent oil companies, large traders, significant owners, and pool operators. This will give us a strategic position within the industry as a dependable African shipping company.

Through voyage charters, period charters or contracts
of affreightment, BHM will be involved in the carriage of crude oil, clean products, dirty products, and orimulsion around throughout Africa. BHM tanker brokers take pride in their market knowledge, expertise, and commitment to their clients.

The Nigerian Navy has declared that following strong surveillance and response capability of the force at sea with regards to ensuring security and safety, over 968 crude oil tankers successfully lifted 82, 122, 452 metric tons of crude oil on behalf of the federal government, without being attacked by pirates or robbers. The Federal Government’s objective to increase daily crude oil production target to 2.45 million barrels, meet reserves target of 40 million barrels and 5.95 trillion cubic meters of gas. Nigeria’s crude oil reserves stood at 37.1billion last year, the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) said in a report.

With global economic growth in 2014 projected to increase to 3.5 per cent from 2.9 per cent in 2013, world oil demand is forecast to rise by one million barrels per day, compared with 900,000 b/d last year.

The operating arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, delivered gross production of 191,025 barrels per day, bpd in mid-December 2013, a higher figure than the November 2013 production, which averaged 173,000 bpd.

The increase of 18,000 bpd came from one field: Kokori field in Oil Mining Lease, OML, 30, which increased from 26,000 bpd to 44,000 bpd.

Africa Oil and Gas Report stated that Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, holds equity in 10 producing fields in the western onshore and south eastern offshore parts of the Niger Delta, most of them recent divestments from Shell Nigeria. Our trucking division will provide an essential service to the African economies by transporting large quantities of raw materials, works in process, and finished goods over land from manufacturing plants to retail distribution centers. BHM will collaborate or partner (which is is mutually beneficial)
with Zimbulk, the leading transporter specializing in international transportation form South to West to East Africa including Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and the Eastern DRC.

We intend to acquire refrigerated reefers(intermodal shipping container) to be used in intermodal freight transport that is refrigerated for the transportation of temperature sensitive cargo. While a reefer will have an integral refrigeration unit, they depend on external power from electrical power points at a land based site, a container ship or a quay. When being transported over the road on a trailer they will be powered by diesel powered generators ("gen sets") which attach to the container whilst on road journeys.

Our cold storage warehouse will be 55,000 square feet with 4000 pallet spaces dedicated to freezer space and 1000 pallet spaces dedicated to cooler space.

We Will Offer:

  • Electrically monitored temperature system

Grocery Chain Cold Storage Facility

The growing efficiency and reliability of cold chain logistics will enable us to establish large cold storage distribution facilities servicing large market areas. This strategy confers economies of scale (lower operating costs) as well as the ability to supply a wider variety of cold chain retail goods. The facility will be built on the cross-docking model, implying that inbound cargo (from suppliers) will be received on one side, grocery products will be stored in the middle, and outbound cargo to grocery stores will be on the opposite side. An array of domestic 53 foot reefer containers will be simultaneously loaded with the orders of specific stores including our grocery chain stores. Like reefers, the cold storage facility will be painted white to confer a high albedo (light reflection factor).
